Robbie Keane was mentioned in coverage as a possible option. The former Tottenham striker, who scored 122 goals in 306 games for the club across two spells, was watching his Ferencváros side win 4–0 in the Hungarian Cup when asked about the speculation. He replied, “I can’t help speculation” and walked away from his pitch-side interview.
Keane, now 45 years old, has been linked with a return only on the basis of a permanent appointment. The Telegraph reported he would be happy to speak with Tottenham about the vacancy but would only do so with the promise of a long-term contract. He would not be interested in taking the job on an interim basis and would only consider leaving Ferencváros’s title challenge if a guaranteed, long-term role were offered.
The wider shortlist is believed to include Mauricio Pochettino, whose contract with the U.S. men’s national team expires after the World Cup this summer, though buying him out would come at a significant cost. Roberto De Zerbi, who rejected a Spurs approach before the club hired Frank last summer and who has recently left Marseille, is another name that has been mentioned, but he may prefer to wait until the summer.

The club’s chances of ending the campaign with a trophy may rest solely on the FA Cup and Champions League, and Gravenberch acknowledged the short-term focus while outlining a longer-term ambition to return Liverpool to title contention.
“For the short term, [my aim is to] end the season as good as possible,” he continued. “And for the long term: win many more trophies with Liverpool. ]”
His progress from an unsettled arrival to a regular performer under Slot has given Liverpool a midfield option who combines defensive work with an improved scoring threat. The new contract secures that option as the club plans the next phase of its domestic and European campaigns.
