Benjamin Šeško limped off during Manchester United’s 2–2 draw with Spurs, and Ruben Amorim gave a sobering update on the striker’s condition after the game. The match ended with a last-second equaliser from Matthijs de Ligt, but Šeško’s exit quickly became the overriding concern.

Šeško arrived at Man Utd from RB Leipzig in a £74 million ($97 million) transfer this summer. The Slovenia international has struggled for consistency in the opening months with the club, registering two goals and one assist in 12 appearances across all competitions.
United travel into the November international window on a five-game unbeaten run. The side sits seventh in the Premier League through 11 games, level on points with reigning English champions Liverpool.
Amorim underlined the wider squad challenge ahead, noting potential absences at the Africa Cup of Nations and the club’s options in the coming window. “We have to check everything,” Amorim said. “We have to check what’s happened with Ben, but of course we are going to have a problem there [with AFCON players]—we already knew that, so you can then prepare for that in the summer.
“We knew that we would have a lot of players who are not going to play because it’s one game a week, so we knew that trying to manage that situation was going to be hard.
“Let’s see when the window is open, if we can improve the team, and try to repair something that happened. Until then we have to take the chance. We’ll see,” Amorim finished.
Should Šeško require a lengthy layoff, Manchester United could look to the transfer market for reinforcements ahead of the second half of the season. The club will also be without Amad Diallo, Bryan Mbeumo and Mazraoui due to the Africa Cup of Nations at the end of December.

Michael Carrick has confirmed Lisandro Martínez will not be available for Manchester United’s trip to Bournemouth on Friday, but said the Argentina international is progressing and is expected to be ready following the international break. “He’s getting there,” Carrick admitted. “So after this one, I think he’ll be alright.”

The manager also offered an update on Mason Mount, who has faced repeated fitness problems since his move from Chelsea in 2023 in a package worth up to $75.7 million (£60 million).
