Salah move talk gathers pace as Beşiktaş step into view

Mohamed Salah could be moving toward a fresh chapter in Turkey, with reports suggesting Beşiktaş are making progress in their pursuit of the forward.

His representatives are said to have travelled to Istanbul for talks, while journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu has reported that Beşiktaş have tabled a first offer. Salah was initially understood to be seeking an annual salary of €15 million ($17 million), though the report says he has now lowered his expectations to help a deal move forward. Sabuncuoğlu also says the player’s lawyer has arrived in Istanbul.

The latest developments follow a series of social media messages from Salah’s agent, Ramy Abbas Issa, who wrote: “We still do not know where Mohamed will play next season but we may know very soon.” He then added: “It is not our style to have discussions with clubs that Mohamed wouldn’t want to play for, just for the sake of noise.”

Salah announced in March that he would leave Anfield after nine seasons. His final campaign there was a difficult one after Liverpool won the 2024-25 Premier League title with a record 47 goal involvements, before the team slipped to fifth place the next season.

The Egypt international remains the Premier League’s all-time scorer born outside England with 193 goals, and he has also won the Premier League Golden Boot three times. Clubs in Saudi Arabia, MLS and Europe have all been linked with him, but Beşiktaş now appear to be pressing ahead as the situation develops.

Before the summer, the Saudi Pro League had been viewed as Salah’s most likely destination. Liverpool had already rejected a £150 million ($200 million) bid from Al Ittihad in 2023, the same summer Jordan Henderson and Fabinho left Anfield for Saudi Arabia.
