Tottenham Hotspur coach Thomas Frank has addressed speculation surrounding Son Heung-min’s future amid strong links to LAFC this summer. Frank emphasized the player’s significant contributions and current commitment to the club.

“I think first and foremost, Son’s legacy here is remarkable. He’s been a fantastic player for Tottenham, he is a fantastic player for Tottenham,” Frank said.

He further highlighted Son’s mindset and preparation heading into the upcoming season. “I see a player that can play a very good role here next season. He’s come in [for pre-season], very good mindset, trained very hard, pushed the players. So I’m excited about it.”

While it has been suggested that the decision regarding Son’s future could ultimately rest with him, no immediate update is expected before Tottenham’s friendly against Newcastle United in South Korea on Sunday. Son’s presence is not only vital on the pitch but also holds substantial marketing value for Tottenham.

Recognized as the biggest name in Asian football, Son’s involvement has enabled Spurs to hold several friendlies in South Korea and other parts of Asia over recent years, including matches in 2022 and 2024, as well as games in China, Singapore, and Japan dating back to 2019.

Tottenham Hotspur has emerged as the frontrunner to sign Real Madrid’s versatile winger Rodrygo after changes in the standing of other Premier League clubs interested in the Brazilian star. Despite playing more matches in the 2024–25 season (53) compared to the previous one (51), Rodrygo’s preferred position on the left wing has rarely been his stage due to tactical decisions by manager Xabi Alonso. This was especially evident during the Club World Cup, fueling speculation around his potential departure this summer.

Nevertheless, with the possibility of Son Heung-min moving to LAFC, Spurs might face a void in their frontline that Rodrygo could potentially fill, enhancing their attacking options.

Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of Morgan Gibbs-White ended in an unexpected turn after a complex release clause in the Nottingham Forest midfielder’s contract was not fully met. Although Spurs reportedly satisfied the monetary value of the clause, several conditions tied to it were not fulfilled, meaning the clause was never triggered. As a result, Forest were under no obligation to accept Spurs’ bid. Furthermore, Forest accused Tottenham of an illegal approach and breach of confidentiality regarding the clause’s disclosure.

The saga culminated with Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis personally overseeing a new contract for Gibbs-White, who extended his stay at the club. Marinakis expressed his displeasure with Spurs’ handling of the situation and stated, “We always win.”

This new deal reportedly lacks a release clause or any provisions for a future transfer. Throughout the negotiations, Gibbs-White maintained professionalism and impeccable conduct.

Nottingham Forest, having secured the midfielder’s services, are still eyeing potential reinforcements, notably Manchester City’s James McAtee.
