Arsenal top Premier League squad valuations; Chelsea and Man United face the largest market deficits
The 2025 summer transfer window has produced heavy spending and fresh valuations across the Premier League. Sky Sports compiled squad costs and compared them with Transfermarkt’s estimated market values to rank every top-flight squad on a cost to value basis. The totals reflect Transfermarkt valuations converted from euros and exclude players on loan. Information accurate as of Aug. 27, 2025.
Arsenal top the list as the most valuable squad at a reported £1.1 billion, with squad costs of £826 million and the largest positive gap at +£315.9 million ($425.3 million). Chelsea are the most expensive squad by cost at £1.2 billion but sit in negative territory with a -£227.5 million market gap. Manchester City have spent heavily with reported squad costs of £987.3 million and a squad value of £1.1 billion, producing a +£137.2 million difference.
Brighton also show a strong surplus at +£150.9 million while Sunderland, Crystal Palace and Liverpool register positive gaps of +£129.4 million, +£121.4 million and +£109.2 million respectively. Clubs with notable positive margins include Fulham (+£73.3 million), Nottingham Forest (+£60.2 million), Brentford (+£56.7 million) and Burnley (+£50 million). Mid-table differences include Wolves (+£40.4 million), Newcastle (+£39.2 million), Leeds (+£29.3 million), Aston Villa (+£8.2 million) and Everton (+£6.4 million).
On the other side, Tottenham are slightly negative at -£11.9 million, Bournemouth are -£38.5 million and West Ham are -£63 million. Manchester United are the most out of step from value, with squad costs of around £1.1 billion and a reported deficit of £322.9 million ($434.7 million).
Several high-profile moves shaped the numbers. Man City have recruited players including Rayan Cherki and Tijjani Reijnders. Liverpool smashed the British transfer record to acquire Florian Wirtz, with Hugo Ekitiké the second-most expensive signing this summer. Arsenal made significant additions with Viktor Gyökeres and Martín Zubimendi among the pricier arrivals and Eberechi Eze just outside the top 10. Manchester United brought in Benjamin Šeško, Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo and own three of the top 10 expensive moves this summer.
These figures may shift as deadline day approaches, with Arsenal pursuing Piero Hincapié and the Alexander Isak to Liverpool transfer saga unresolved.

That total places him ahead of the previous record of 151, which was held jointly by Thierry Henry and Wayne Rooney at Highbury and Old Trafford respectively.
Salah’s tally at that ground is compiled from 107 goals and 45 assists, producing the 152 figure that now stands alone at the top. Thierry Henry’s total there was 114 goals and 37 assists for 151, while Wayne Rooney recorded 101 goals and 50 assists for the same combined total.

Beyond the stadium-specific milestone, Salah remains on course for other career landmarks in the Premier League. He is fourth on the all-time scoring list with 190, 18 behind Wayne Rooney’s 208 and behind Alan Shearer and Harry Kane. Gary Neville used blunt language to describe how Kobbie Mainoo was managed at the start of the season, arguing the midfielder was mishandled before finding form under Michael Carrick.
“I must admit, I never liked the handling of Mainoo,” Neville said on the new episode of Stick to Football, accusing Ruben Amorim of damaging the player when it became clear he would not be selected alongside Bruno Fernandes. “I thought it was rubbish,” he added. “It killed him publicly. And then he never put him in the team at all, apart from [against] Grimsby. That was nearly pushing a talented player out of the club before he even really had a chance to perform. You look at him now in these two matches, you think, how could that be? How could [Manuel] Ugarte [be picked ahead of him]?”
Roy Keane welcomed Mainoo’s recent performances. “You couldn’t ask for any more,” he said, adding that the overall turnaround had been “brilliant.” He also warned that conclusions should be cautious given the sample size: “It is only two games,” he warned, wanting to see more.
Paul Scholes praised the renewed midfield balance once Carrick adjusted the system to include both Mainoo and Fernandes while Casemiro remained at No. 6. “Kobbie and Fernandes, they make your team play football,” Scholes said. “When they had just been doing it with Fernandes, they sent [one] to play. He didn’t really have anyone to play with. Now, Kobbie’s also got that ability to play with someone. It makes a big difference.”
