Jackson Tchatchoua set to join Wolves for €12m; medical and contract to follow in coming days soon..

Wolverhampton have moved to secure Jackson Tchatchoua from Hellas Verona in a transfer that, according to reports, is close to completion. The 23-year-old Cameroonian right-back, born in Belgium, impressed during his time in Serie A after arriving in 2023 on loan with an option to buy that was exercised for €3 million.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the deal is sealed: the transfer is valued at €12 million, with a medical and contract signing scheduled in the coming days. That valuation represents a significant increase on the fee paid when Verona made the move permanent and underlines how Tchatchoua’s displays drew attention across Italy and beyond.

Nottingham Forest, Milan, and Napoli monitored the defender, but Wolves have surged ahead in the race for his signature. The interest from multiple clubs emphasised the market recognition of his performances, and the agreement with Wolverhampton now appears to be the clear outcome.

As a Cameroonian international, Tchatchoua will move into a new competitive environment. The transfer offers him the opportunity to test himself in the Premier League and represents a clear career step following his breakthrough in Serie A. For Wolves, the signing adds a young full-back who has already experienced top-flight football in Italy and attracted interest from established clubs.

Formalities remain: a medical and contract signing are expected in the coming days. Once completed, the move will conclude a transfer process that began when Tchatchoua joined Verona on loan in 2023 and continued after the club exercised the purchase option. The terms reported will see Wolves invest €12 million to bring the player to England, marking the next phase of his development at club level.

August 2025 Premier League: Player and Manager of the Month nominees reviewed

Aug 2025 Premier League nominees: key performances from Calafiori, Ekitiké, Haaland and Grealish…

The opening month of the 2025–26 Premier League season concluded with the official release of the August Player and Manager of the Month nominees. The shortlist reflects a mix of attacking returns, defensive leadership and encouraging starts for newly aligned teams.

Riccardo Calafiori has been Arsenal’s starting left back so far this season. That freedom to get involved further up the field produced one goal and two assists across three games in August, with two clean sheets adding to a strong month for the Italian.

Liverpool supply two names. Hugo Ekitiké had two goals and an assist in his first three Premier League games, while Dominik Szoboszlai claimed headlines with a free-kick winner against Arsenal before the international break.

Jack Grealish returned to these shortlists after joining Everton on loan from Manchester City. Four assists in three games have underlined his early impact following his transfer, which was described in earlier reporting as a £100 million ($134.3 million) move to the Etihad.

Marc Guéhi navigated transfer uncertainty to produce a series of solid displays for Crystal Palace, overseeing two away clean sheets at Aston Villa and Chelsea and scoring a long-range goal against Villa.

Erling Haaland, who won this award in August 2024, registered three goals in as many games for Manchester City, finding the net against Brighton & Hove Albion and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

João Pedro matched Grealish for direct goal contributions across August, scoring twice against Fulham and West Ham United and adding two assists in the latter fixture while leading Chelsea’s midfield in the absence of the injured Cole Palmer.

Antoine Semenyo, who made allegations of racist abuse against a Liverpool fan in Bournemouth’s opening game, responded on the pitch with two goals against Liverpool and an assist against Wolves.

Sunderland began life back in the Premier League strongly under Régis Le Bris, who has two wins from three games. Wilson Isidor grabbed attention with two goals off the bench.

On the managerial side, Chelsea remain unbeaten under Enzo Maresca after recovering from a stuttering home draw with Crystal Palace to beat West Ham and Fulham. David Moyes has overseen Everton’s resurgence, with Grealish and Iliman Ndiaye central to two wins in three. Arne Slot’s Liverpool sit top with the only remaining perfect record, claiming wins over Bournemouth, Newcastle United and Arsenal prior to the arrival of Alexander Isak.

Haaland brace and new signings fire Manchester City to 4-0 opening-day win

Haaland brace and debut goals from Reijnders and Cherki sealed Manchester City’s 4-0 opening win now

Manchester City began the 2025/26 Premier League season with a dominant 4-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux Stadium.

Erling Haaland scored twice, the third time he has recorded a brace on the opening matchday and the fourth occasion he has found the net on day one. New signings Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Cherki, who together cost over £75m in the summer window, made immediate impacts across the team, contributing two goals and an assist between them.

City selected James Trafford in goal ahead of Stefan Ortega after Ederson was excluded from the travelling squad. The club are reported to be keen on a replacement and Ederson will likely join Galatasaray this summer, with Gianluigi Donnarumma mentioned as a possible target. Rodri missed the match after sustaining an injury in the Club World Cup against Al Hilal; the 2024 Ballon d’Or winner was sidelined for the majority of 2024/25 following an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

Wolves introduced summer signing Jhon Arias in the second half after Jean-Ricner Bellegarde and Marshall Munetsi were preferred in the starting XI. Arias had stood out for Fluminense in the Club World Cup and was brought on with the hope of adding flair.

The opening 45 saw several close calls. Munetsi had an effort ruled out for offside and briefly occupied an advanced role on the right flank. In the 34th minute Haaland opened the scoring after a move involving Tijjani Reijnders and a Rico Lewis pass. Reijnders, on his Premier League debut following his summer move from AC Milan for £46.5m, doubled the lead minutes later after poor defensive control from Emmanuel Agbadou.

Strand Larsen forced a near miss early in the second half, and later Haaland completed his brace following combination play from Oscar Bobb and Reijnders. Rayan Cherki, wearing the No.10 shirt, came off the bench and scored his first Premier League goal for City to finish the scoring.

Manchester City sit top of the table after matchday one; Wolves occupy the bottom and face Tottenham Hotspur next weekend.
