Arsenal turned a troubled midweek into their biggest Premier League victory at Tottenham Hotspur inside four days, a swing that Viktor Gy\u00f6keres attributed to a frank dressing-room conversation.<\/p>\n
Gy\u00f6keres, who scored a crisp brace, was uncharacteristically sharp. He fired the visitors in front two minutes into the second half after taking advantage of the oceans of space afforded to him at the top of the penalty box. He likened his finish to one of Eberechi Eze\u2019s goals in the reverse fixture; Eze was on the scoresheet again this weekend for the first time since that north London derby back in November.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s always going to be difficult when you get a result like we had at Wolves, but it\u2019s how you handle that, and how you respond to it, and today we showed that it in a good way,\u201d Gy\u00f6keres said after the match.<\/p>\n
Rather than blame a conceding opponent, Gy\u00f6keres emphasised internal honesty. \u201cIt\u2019s important sometimes just to say what you feel and to let it all out in the group,\u201d he said. \u201cMost of us spoke. Everyone can recognise how different people feel in the moment and you get a better understanding of the feeling.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen you speak in the group openly like that, you come closer together and it\u2019s very important to do that sometimes. If you\u2019re not honest, I think it\u2019s hard to improve. It was a good chat.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mikel Arteta confirmed the low mood after the Wolves draw and explained how the squad responded. \u201cIt feels like the end of the world,\u201d he reflected. \u201cAnd then you have to lift yourself up because you\u2019re feeling angry, upset, ashamed at some point.\u201d<\/p>\n
Arteta added: \u201cWe are all different nationalities, we all have different feelings, and then you have to bring everybody together,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s been a joy to spend that time together with them, to align everybody and to say: \u2018O.K., what is going to be happening in the next chapter?’<\/p>\n
\u201cThis one is gone, how do we use it to be a turning point and to make ourselves better, and that was the focus, that was the intention. But after you have to do it on the pitch, and I think what we\u2019ve done from the beginning to the end of the match. It was outstanding.\u201d<\/p>\n
