Solskj\u00e6r spent the final 11 years of his playing career at Old Trafford and is remembered for the stoppage-time winner against Bayern Munich in the 1999 Champions League final. His managerial track record before returning to England was modest: two spells with Molde in Norway separated by a brief relegation-stricken stint at Cardiff City.<\/p>\n
United appointed Solskj\u00e6r first on a caretaker basis after the stormy aftermath of Jos\u00e9 Mourinho\u2019s bitter exit in December 2018. He won 14 of 19 games in that interim spell, including a comeback victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League round of 16, and was then given the job permanently.<\/p>\n
