Manchester United\u2019s head of recruitment, Christopher Vivell, is reported to have expressed concern about Ruben Amorim\u2019s preferred 3-4-2-1 formation in a private WhatsApp group for the club\u2019s leadership. According to the Daily Mail, those messages followed tactical shifts that surprised supporters and staff.<\/p>\n
The change in setup was notable after Amorim reverted to a three-back formation for a 1\u20131 draw with bottom side Wolverhampton Wanderers. Vivell is reported to have raised the issue after an earlier 1\u20131 away draw at Fulham in August, when Fulham manager Marco Silva and midfielder Alex Iwobi described how they “exploited” Amorim\u2019s setup.<\/p>\n
Those comments were circulated within United\u2019s leadership chat alongside Vivell\u2019s warning that the formation had become too predictable and needed urgent alteration. Amorim addressed the occasion ahead of the game. “I heard that it is a big derby, a great environment,” Amorim said ahead of the game. “A big rivalry. But every game in the Premier League is tough for us, so it\u2019s one more game.<\/p>\n
“I know that it means a lot to the fans, but we need to go there and try to win.”<\/p>\n
Confidence in search of that victory is evident in Amorim\u2019s assessment. “They are confident, but we have proved we can win any game in any situation, in every context, so we will try to do that again,” Amorim warned.<\/p>\n
