The manager has improved balance and quality, yet further departures from Old Trafford remain possible.

Tyrell Malacia is a clear candidate. He was the only member of United’s five-man ‘bomb squad’ who did not leave in the summer. The left back missed the entirety of the 2023–24 season through injury and is yet to feature this term. He was close to joining Elche late in the summer window, and having joined PSV Eindhoven on loan last winter, another temporary move could occur. With his contract expiring next summer United are unlikely to recoup much for a player they paid £13 million for, so a permanent exit in January would suit both parties.

Diego León arrived as an investment for the future but has yet to make his competitive debut for the senior side. The 18-year-old left wing back has mostly played for the Under-21s after a handful of unused first-team appearances. United paid £7 million inclusive of add-ons and, despite Amorim’s public plea for wing back reinforcements, León has been largely ignored this season. A loan for regular minutes would be a sensible course for the remainder of the campaign.

Ayden Heaven, signed from Arsenal, has seen his opportunities limited. He made six first-team appearances last term but sits behind Luke Shaw, Leny Yoro, Lisandro Martínez, Matthijs de Ligt and Harry Maguire in the pecking order. Noussair Mazraoui has also featured at centre back ahead of him. Heaven has started recent matches but has failed to convince; a temporary move could provide the playing time he needs.

Kobbie Mainoo has been used sparingly this season and is reportedly eager to leave in January to aid his development. A permanent exit in winter seems unlikely, but a loan increasingly appears possible. Mainoo is conscious of England’s 2026 World Cup and is said to prefer a move abroad, with Napoli and Real Madrid among the clubs touted as suitors. Whether United will sanction a loan is unclear, especially when they are not blessed with depth in midfield.

Joshua Zirkzee has become a bit-part option since Benjamin Šeško’s arrival. Amorim has sometimes employed Mason Mount as a false nine instead, leaving Zirkzee with limited starts. Roma have been linked and a return to Italy, where he impressed for Bologna, could reinvigorate him after an underwhelming spell at United.

Five Man Utd players likely to move in January: Malacia, Diego León, Heaven, Mainoo, Zirkzee in Jan.

[179,1348
181,1012,1367
post-5602","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-manchester-united","category-manchester-united-news","tag-ayden-heaven","tag-burnley-style","tag-diego-leon
["GET
