Tottenham Hotspur have reached an agreement to sell winger Brennan Johnson to Crystal Palace for \u00a335 million, sources reported by The Athletic say. The deal, according to those reports, now rests on Johnson\u2019s decision over whether to join Palace, remain and fight for his place at Spurs, or await interest from another club.<\/p>\n
The Wales international is 24 years old and is believed to have several suitors this winter. Palace had identified Johnson as a primary target for the January window and the \u00a335 million fee now in place could prompt approaches from other interested sides.<\/p>\n
Johnson\u2019s reduced playing time this season has been linked to the summer arrival of Mohammed Kudus, who has established himself on the right wing. Kudus has registered six assists and two goals in 17 Premier League games and has been the regular starter in that position, limiting Johnson\u2019s opportunities.<\/p>\n
Johnson opened the season by scoring in each of his first two appearances as a makeshift left winger but failed to secure a permanent starting role. Under Frank, Johnson has recorded just six Premier League starts. He was introduced for five minutes off the bench in Tottenham\u2019s 1\u20130 win over Crystal Palace prior to the reports of the agreement.<\/p>\n
Frank has publicly expressed support for Johnson. He said: “I think Brennan is very important for us,” he said after Sunday\u2019s 1\u20130 win over Crystal Palace, in which Johnson managed five minutes off the bench. “Maybe he didn’t get many minutes, but unfortunately, we can only play 11 players.<\/p>\n
“We spoke about it before with Mo [Kudus], he\u2019s coming in and put his stamp on that right-winger position.<\/p>\n
