Manchester United and Chelsea share the best conversion record, each delivering the trophy five times after leading at Christmas. Manchester United have occupied the top spot at Christmas more often than any other side in the Premier League era, doing so seven times, and only failed to follow that advantage into a title under Sir Alex Ferguson on two occasions: 1997\u201398 and 2003\u201304. Chelsea, by contrast, have a perfect record of turning a Christmas top spot into the championship, most recently in 2016\u201317.<\/p>\n
Recent seasons offer contrasting stories. Liverpool were top at Christmas in 2024\u201325 and went on to win the title under Arne Slot, echoing their 2019\u201320 triumph under J\u00fcrgen Klopp when they claimed their first Premier League crown. Manchester City have repeatedly shown they can recover from not leading at Christmas to win the league, doing so in 2018\u201319, 2019\u201320, and 2020\u201321.
