Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea have also tracked Semenyo in recent weeks, while Tottenham Hotspur were already told no by the player. Semenyo\u2019s Bournemouth contract, signed as recently as July, contains a \u00a365 million ($87.7 million) release clause that makes a move feasible for clubs prepared to meet that fixed fee. That clause has focused attention on the Ghana international as an attainable, Premier League-proven forward in the January market.<\/p>\n
The Athletic writes that Semenyo has a “preference”, and it\u2019s Manchester City. There is no formal agreement at this stage. BBC Sport has reported that the clubs reaching out to Semenyo\u2019s representatives are prepared to offer similar salaries, leaving the player\u2019s decision to hinge on the most attractive sporting project and his desire to win trophies.<\/p>\n
The report suggests Manchester United will not pursue players not “eager to join”; Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo were conversely both very keen on Old Trafford during the summer. Chelsea have reportedly pulled out after an initial enquiry.<\/p>\n
Manchester City\u2019s scoring record this season is part of the context for interest in Semenyo. City have netted 41 times in their opening 17 games, with Erling Haaland accounting for 19 goals, roughly 46% of that output.
