Arne Slot defended his position after Liverpool\u2019s recent run produced results not seen at the club for decades. After an almost flawless debut season at Anfield, Slot\u2019s early momentum has evaporated and the PSV fixture was widely viewed as a must-win. Questions over his job security are likely to intensify if the team cannot produce an immediate upturn in form.<\/p>\n
Asked about his position, Slot told assembled media, “I am feeling safe, I am O.K., I have got a lot of support from above. It would be nice to turn it around and get a victory of course but if you are working as a coach and not doing well then it is normal that questions are asked. I am O.K. with my position. It is not the first time I\u2019ve been in a difficult position but it is about time that we turned it around.” <\/p>\n
On his relationship with the club\u2019s hierarchy he said, “We talk a lot. They are helpful to the team and to me and we have those conversations but they don\u2019t call me every single minute of the day to say they trust me. In the normal conversations we have I feel the trust. But I haven\u2019t spoken to them after this game yet so let\u2019s see.” <\/p>\n
Slot did not hide his surprise at the collapse in form. “I think it\u2019s a shock for everyone,” he admitted. “For the players, for the journalists here, for me, for everyone this is a shock.
