Bournemouth general manager Tim Bezbatchenko has acknowledged the club would not block Antoine Semenyo if offers arrive from Europe\u2019s biggest teams. The 25-year-old forward attracted interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United over the summer, but chose to sign a contract extension with the Cherries.<\/p>\n
Reports place Liverpool among Semenyo\u2019s suitors as the January transfer window approaches and beyond, a development that could test Bournemouth\u2019s resolve. Bezbatchenko, who is also director of Black Knight Football Club, framed the situation as one the club must manage with respect for the player\u2019s ambitions.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen a club like Real Madrid , Liverpool, PSG come in and they\u2019re competing for Champions League positions, who are we to say, \u2018No, you can\u2018t go, you can\u2018t fulfil your dream,\u2019\u201d Bezbatchenko told the Business of Sport podcast. \u201cBut there is an opportunity and everybody wins, right? I think that\u2019s what we\u2019re trying to find, this commonality where everybody can win.\u201d<\/p>\n
The club\u2019s recent transfer business underlines the point. Liverpool\u2019s sporting director Richard Hughes was the man who signed Semenyo during his spell at the Vitality Stadium, with the 46-year-old returning to his former employers to recruit Milos Kerkez over the summer period.<\/p>\n
Bournemouth allowed Kerkez and fellow prized assets Illia Zabarnyi and Dean Huijsen to depart during the most recent transfer window. That willingness to sell key players when the time was right suggests the club would similarly consider offers for Semenyo if terms matched their valuation and the player\u2019s wishes.<\/p>\n
For now Semenyo remains a Bournemouth player who committed to an extension this summer.
