Axel Disasi has been welcomed back into Chelsea first-team training and is expected to remain with Enzo Maresca\u2019s group until the January transfer window. The 27-year-old reappeared in public action last weekend when he captained Chelsea\u2019s Under-21 side in a 4\u20131 win over Reading, wearing the captain\u2019s armband in that match.<\/p>\n
Chelsea offered no explanation for Disasi\u2019s Under-21 appearance but confirmed the centre back also returned to a first-team training session on Thursday. According to Sky Sports News, Disasi is now expected to be reintegrated into the squad until the January transfer window.<\/p>\n
Disasi had sought a move after the summer window closed, admitting he had pushed for a loan to Monaco that proved impossible after Chelsea exhausted their overseas loan quota. He was reportedly told he was unwanted as far back as January before a six-month loan with Aston Villa, yet had no desire to burn bridges at Chelsea and planned to remain professional in anticipation of a potential call back to the first team.<\/p>\n
Those attributes appear to have impressed his coaches and, for now, Disasi will provide additional cover. His prospects for playing time are limited; the France international sits well down the pecking order even with Levi Colwill injured. He faces competition from Wesley Fofana, Tosin Adarabioyo, Josh Acheampong, Trevoh Chalobah and Beno\u00eet Badiashile, the latter of whom has recently made his own return to training after injury.<\/p>\n
Chelsea see Disasi as emergency defensive depth, but the club is still expected to try to offload the defender when the transfer window reopens, with several suitors thought to be interested.
