Nigelly paced updates from Norway suggest Martin \u00d8degaard is not yet ready to rejoin Arsenal\u2019s matchday squad. Norway manager St\u00e5le Solbakken said the midfielder remains some way from full fitness and will continue a phased rehabilitation with the national team.<\/p>\n
Solbakken offered a measured assessment at the start of the November international window. \u201c[\u00d8degaard\u2019s recovery] is steady,\u201d he explained. \u201cIt is going in a steady direction but he is some distance away.\u201d<\/p>\n
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has been cautious about a timetable and, before the break, suggested the playmaker was \u201cnot far off \u201d alongside other sidelined players Kai Havertz, Noni Madueke and Gabriel Martinelli. That optimism has been tempered by Solbakken\u2019s remarks.<\/p>\n
Similar to Manchester United centre back Lisandro Mart\u00ednez , Arsenal have permitted \u00d8degaard to split his recovery over the coming weeks between his club and Norway. Solbakken outlined the planned schedule: \u201cHe will fly in [to Oslo] after his rehab on Thursday,\u201d he confirmed. \u201cThen he will continue his rehab with us and will be with us from Thursday afternoon.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t know when the flight leaves. But he will be with us until Milan [on Nov. 16].\u201d<\/p>\n
Arsenal had hoped to welcome \u00d8degaard back in time for the north London derby, but doubts over his availability emerged when it was reported he would be out until \u201cat least\u201d after the November break. \u00d8degaard himself acknowledged the uncertainty, calling it \u201ctricky\u201d to pin down a return date and saying much will depend on when he is able to resume training fully.<\/p>\n
