Raheem Sterling and his family have been left shaken but physically unharmed after what police and his club describe as a second burglary at the player\u2019s home. The incident, reported to have occurred at around 6:30 p.m., again targeted the former Manchester City and Arsenal forward.<\/p>\n
A club spokesperson issued a statement on behalf of Sterling, underlining that he and his children were at home during the incident: “We can confirm that Raheem Sterling was the victim of a home break-in this weekend. We can also confirm that he and his children were present at home at the time.<\/p>\n
“Whilst the ultimate violation of privacy and safety, we are thankful to be able to confirm that he and his loved ones are all safe. We ask that the privacy of Raheem and his loved ones be respected at this challenging time.”<\/p>\n
Thames Valley Police have launched an inquiry and urged members of the public to come forward. In a brief statement they said: “Officers are conducting a thorough investigation and ask anyone with information, or if they saw anyone in the area acting suspiciously, to contact police.” The force has stated that officers are working to establish the full circumstances of the break-in.<\/p>\n
Chelsea are aware of the incident and are offering support to the 30-year-old, his long-term partner and their four children, one of whom is from a previous relationship. Off-field matters of this nature come amid an uncertain period in Sterling\u2019s playing career. He is omitted from Chelsea\u2019s 25-player Premier League squad and has not appeared in any competition this season despite a contract that runs until 2027.<\/p>\n
