Alexander Isak is set to return to Liverpool training on Friday and could be available for Sunday\u2019s visit to Manchester City, manager Arne Slot confirmed at his pre-match press conference. Isak has been absent for three weeks and will rejoin the group as the staff assess whether he can feature against City.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe will train for the first time today with the team again after three weeks out,\u201d Slot told his pre-match press conference. \u201cI said three weeks ago that his pre-season has ended . It\u2019s time for us to see where he is at.<\/p>\n

Goalkeeper Alisson Becker will not be ready for the trip after sustaining a hamstring injury in early October. The injury was initially assessed as around a six-week absence, a timetable Slot said has held up. The manager expects Alisson to be available when Liverpool return to Premier League action against Nottingham Forest on Nov. 22.<\/p>\n
Slot also provided an update on right back Jeremie Frimpong, who suffered his own hamstring problem and will need longer to regain full fitness. \u201cI also expect Jeremie to be back after the international break, because there isn\u2019t another one until March!\u201d Slot laughed.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t expect Frimpong to be fully fit for Nottingham Forest but I expect Alisson to be fit for that game.\u201d<\/p>\n
Looking ahead to the fixture at the Etihad, Slot acknowledged the magnitude of the challenge. \u201cManchester City are very good and they have got quality players, so that makes the challenge even bigger,\u201d Slot acknowledged. \u201cWe have to be consistent in doing things right. Manchester City is one of the most difficult challenges you have playing away in a season. It\u2019s a very interesting game to look forward to.<\/p>\n
