Nottingham Forest dismissed Ange Postecoglou minutes after Saturday\u2019s 3\u20130 defeat to Chelsea, ending a spell that lasted just 39 days. The club issued a brief statement: \u201cNottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that after a series of disappointing results and performances, Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties as head coach with immediate effect.\u201d<\/p>\n
Reports had suggested Postecoglou\u2019s job was vulnerable and one more defeat would put him at risk. That scenario arrived at Stamford Bridge and Forest moved quickly in the aftermath to make the change.<\/p>\n
The decision closes the second-shortest managerial reign in Premier League history and leaves the club searching for stability early in the 2025\/26 season. Forest will now begin the hunt for their third manager of a season which is just eight games old.<\/p>\n
The sacking followed comments from Postecoglou in the days before the Chelsea match in which he appealed for time and pledged success if allowed to complete a project under owner Evangelos Marinakis. Local and national reports earlier this month identified former Burnley and Everton boss Sean Dyche as a leading candidate to replace Postecoglou.
