Fabrizio Romano supported the claim that negotiations between United and Sporting were “closed,” revealing that while the fallen Premier League giants were offering a lower fixed fee than the \u20ac63.5 million which Arsenal paid, they had agreed upon “better bonuses.” Romano also says the reigning Portuguese champions were \u201cpushing like crazy\u201d to send their No. 9 to Old Trafford.<\/p>\n
Faced with competing offers and public disagreement at club level, Gy\u00f6keres and his camp resisted Sporting\u2019s preferred destination and the midfielder eventually moved to Arsenal.
