Chelsea are expected to limit incoming transfers in January and concentrate on moving players out of the club, according to reports. The transfer window closed without manager Enzo Maresca\u2019s request for a new centre back being granted, and Sky Sports News report that is likely to be the case in January as well.<\/p>\n
The club view many of their defensive problems as temporary. Trevoh Chalobah\u2019s suspension has ended and Wesley Fofana is back in training after a concussion-enforced absence. Tosin Adarabioyo is also expected back after the international break and is set to take a leading role while Levi Colwill remains a long-term absentee.<\/p>\n
Hato is considered capable at centre back alongside Beno\u00eet Badiashile and Josh Acheampong, both of whom limped off against Liverpool. Chelsea also regard their centre-back stocks as secure for the future, even before factoring in young loanees Sarr and Aar\u00f3n Anselmino.<\/p>\n
There will be no January move for a new goalkeeper. Faith remains in Robert S\u00e1nchez and deputy Filip J\u00f6rgensen, and there are high hopes for 20-year-old Mike Penders after his impressive start on loan with Strasbourg.<\/p>\n
Despite having some transfer funds available, Chelsea\u2019s priority in January is expected to be sales. Raheem Sterling and Axel Disasi, who remain frozen out of the squad after failing to secure summer exits, are top priorities. Both had offers in the summer but declined those available to them.<\/p>\n
The club will also renew efforts to sell Tyrique George. The academy graduate was expected to complete a \u00a322 million switch to Fulham before the move collapsed late on Deadline Day. George has operated as a backup striker this season but is seen primarily as a winger, where Alejandro Garnacho, Gittens, Est\u00eav\u00e3o and Pedro Neto are ahead of him in the pecking order. Sporting CP teenager Geovany Quenda is also set to arrive next summer.<\/p>\n
