Arsenal have agreed improved contract terms with goalkeeper David Raya, but the club did not extend the length of his deal. The arrangement mirrors a move made earlier this summer for Leandro Trossard, who received a pay increase without an overall extension.<\/p>\n
Raya originally joined Arsenal on loan from Brentford in 2023 and supplanted Aaron Ramsdale as the club\u2019s starting goalkeeper. His transfer was made permanent the following summer. The 30-year-old has won two consecutive Golden Gloves, the Premier League award for most clean sheets, sharing the 2024\u201325 prize with Nottingham Forest\u2019s Matz Sels.<\/p>\n
This season Raya has recorded four Premier League clean sheets and added two more in the Champions League. Across seven Premier League matches Arsenal have conceded three goals. Of those three, only one came from open play: an Erling Haaland strike in a 1\u20131 draw with Manchester City. The other two goals conceded while Raya was in goal were a Nick Woltemade header from a corner and a Dominik Szoboszlai free kick.<\/p>\n
Statistically Raya sits behind Newcastle United\u2019s Nick Pope in the clean sheets table. The relevant standings show Nick Pope with five clean sheets and five goals conceded, while Raya has four clean sheets and three goals conceded. Other listed keepers include Roben Roefs (Sunderland, three clean sheets, six conceded), \u0110or\u0111e Petrovi\u0107 (Bournemouth, three clean sheets, eight conceded) and Guglielmo Vicario (Tottenham Hotspur, three clean sheets, five conceded). Crystal Palace\u2019s Dean Henderson has also kept three clean sheets.<\/p>\n
Raya is the latest player at Arsenal to agree improved terms. The club announced William Saliba signed a new contract through 2030 and has reportedly opened talks with Jurri\u00ebn Timber over a new deal, while discussions around Bukayo Saka continue.
