Alexander Isak accepts Liverpool are in a patch they must correct by returning to basics over the international break. The summer signing has scored once in his first six games and, after missing pre-season with former employers Newcastle United, the club\u2019s most expensive signing has been exposed to criticism as the team stumbles.<\/p>\n
Isak stressed the need for incremental improvement after the Chelsea defeat. “Game by game we have to improve, of course, if we want to achieve the things we want to,” he said. “I think we started off pretty badly and we worked our way into the game pretty well.<\/p>\n
“We came out second half and really gave everything to get a result. In the end, it\u2019s obviously tough conceding in the last minute like that. We were speaking [about] details in our press and also on the ball, the spaces to find to be able to hurt them.<\/p>\n
“I think we created chances, enough to score and it just wasn\u2019t enough. In the same way that winning like this is the best feeling, it\u2019s the worst to lose in this type of way. It\u2019s pretty normal. We just have to keep working hard, bounce back and get back to winning ways.<\/p>\n
“I think the belief is there that we can [bounce back]. This team has shown that many times. It\u2019s never easy of course, but hard work and working on details and getting back to our best… we have that belief.”<\/p>\n
Isak also outlined his own fitness work and ambition to contribute more as he nears full match readiness. “I feel good,” he said. “I\u2019ve been working hard to get back to my best and I\u2019m still working to get to my best form.<\/p>\n
“It was good to play out there again. I was hoping for a different result but we\u2019ll keep working. I\u2019m very excited for the whole season ahead.” The forward\u2019s fee of \u00a3125 million ($168 million) and his recovery of match sharpness remain central to expectations as Liverpool seek to end the slump.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
