Manchester United confirmed a reduced squad for Saturday\u2019s trip to Brentford after manager Ruben Amorim revealed Amad Diallo will be absent following a death in his family. The 23-year-old has been granted compassionate leave and will not feature, missing his first match of the campaign.<\/p>\n
\u201cAmad is not here because someone in his family passed away,\u201d Amorim revealed. \u201cWe are giving all the support to Amad and understood he needed to return home.\u201d<\/p>\n
Amorim also confirmed a second absence on the right side of defence, with Noussair Mazraoui unavailable. United have Diogo Dalot back from injury and Dalot may be required to return straight into the starting lineup as a result.<\/p>\n
Lisandro Mart\u00ednez remains a long-term absentee, and Casemiro will sit out the Brentford game after receiving a red card against Chelsea. Those absences mean four first-team players will be missing for Saturday, a selection issue Amorim must manage without altering his message of support for Diallo.<\/p>\n
The club\u2019s response comes after a testing week for Diallo off the pitch. Following the recent match with Chelsea the young winger swapped shirts with former teammate Alejandro Garnacho and posted the moment online. He then faced a wave of criticism on social media and wiped his feeds, removing every post on his Instagram page and leaving just one on X, formerly Twitter.<\/p>\n
\u201cI say the same thing to my players. Shut down social media,\u201d Amorim reflected. \u201cIt\u2019s like that nowadays. It\u2019s a price you have to pay.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut the important thing is the club and his friends are real life for Amad. We are here for him. It\u2019s a tough moment and in this kind of moment, the next game is not important. We can win without Amad and we want to win also for him.\u201d<\/p>\n
