Manchester United have reached an agreement to sign 17-year-old Colombian midfielder Cristian Orozco next summer, multiple reports state. The transfer will not be completed until he turns 18 in July 2026.<\/p>\n
Colombian journalist Pipe Sierra first reported the news, which was later verified by The Athletic. Orozco is currently at Fortaleza CEIF after leaving the development side Rojo earlier this year and captains Colombia\u2019s Under-19 side.<\/p>\n
The prospect of a move to United generated significant attention in Colombia. Local outlet El Colombiano contacted a number of Orozco\u2019s former Rojo coaches for perspective on his upbringing and attributes.<\/p>\n
Campos El\u00edas Santacruz outlined the midfielder\u2019s early rise: “With his character and playing style, he established himself in the Under-15 and Under-17 teams,” he recalled. “Despite being so young, he always showed leadership in training.<\/p>\n
“He trained hard and, on and off the field, acted like a young man with experience. His teammates helped him grow, and today we can say he\u2019s a great human being.”<\/p>\n
Rojo have been involved in negotiations with United over the move, a process confirmed by Rojo coach \u00c1lvaro Escobar. Escobar highlighted qualities that persuaded coaches to entrust Orozco with responsibility at youth level. “He has a positive leadership style that has allowed him to be captain of the Colombian national team,” Escobar explained. “He expresses himself well and is receptive. He doesn\u2019t get upset when corrected. It\u2019s a pleasure to coach him.<\/p>\n
“I was very happy when I found out he could go to Manchester United.”<\/p>\n
