Manchester United have taken a significant step towards moving Andr\u00e9 Onana this summer after reaching a verbal understanding with Trabzonspor. The Cameroon international has struggled in recent appearances and was at fault for a goal when he returned to the starting lineup for a Carabao Cup tie against fourth-tier Grimsby Town, a match United ultimately lost on penalties.<\/p>\n
This chaotic goalkeeping start to the season prompted Amorim to sanction the arrival of the young Belgian shot-stopper Senne Lammens on Deadline Day. United now list four senior goalkeepers: Lammens, Onana, Bay\u0131nd\u0131r and veteran Tom Heaton. That depth is one more than most squads carry and has led the club to explore options to reduce their numbers.<\/p>\n
Onana is the likely candidate to leave. Fabrizio Romano excitedly reported that Trabzonspor had come to an informal arrangement with United to take the Cameroon international on loan for the remaining of the campaign. Both clubs may be satisfied with the terms, but Onana\u2019s position has not been declared. Unless he sanctions the move, he will remain at Old Trafford until January at the earliest.<\/p>\n
The Turkish transfer window remains open until Friday, Sep. 12, giving Onana time to consider a switch. The 29-year-old has three years left on his contract at United, which also includes an option for a further year.<\/p>\n
