Ederson has brought to a close an eight-year, trophy-laden spell at Manchester City after agreeing a move to Fenerbah\u00e7e.<\/p>\n
The transfer followed interest from Gala, who had been searching for a new goalkeeper since this summer\u2019s departure of club icon Fernando Muslera. The reigning Turkish champions submitted a bid worth \u20ac10 million (\u00a38.6 million, $11.7 million) in August and were thought to be in negotiations with City ahead of what many expected to be Ederson\u2019s impending arrival. However, a late surge from Fenerbah\u00e7e saw them win the race for the Brazilian\u2019s signature in a deal valued at \u20ac13 million.<\/p>\n
Ederson reflected on his time in Manchester in comments released by the club. \u201cI leave Manchester City incredibly proud of what we have achieved together, and I am honoured to have worn the shirt so many times,\u201d he told club media.<\/p>\n
\u201cUnder Pep, we have won dominated the Premier League and conquered Europe. It has been amazing.\u201d<\/p>\n
He continued: \u201cI arrived in Manchester eight years ago full of hope, but I could not have predicted such a beautiful time together.<\/p>\n
\u201cPlaying for City has been the most special time of my life and I will always be a fan of this special club. I\u2019m going with my wife and children, but I\u2019m leaving a big family here, Cityzens. Once a Blue, always a Blue.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ederson originally joined City from Benfica in 2017 for a fee of \u20ac40 million. He became Guardiola\u2019s preferred goalkeeper as Joe Hart was phased out and Claudio Bravo did not retain the starting role. During his time with City the goalkeeper helped the club secure six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, four EFL Cups, the UEFA Super Cup, the Club World Cup and the 2023 Champions League.<\/p>\n
There were signs of physical decline last season when Ederson missed a career-high 10 games with four separate injuries. He was also left out of City\u2019s first three matches of the current campaign in favour of summer recruit James Trafford.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
