Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign Crystal Palace centre back Marc Gu\u00e9hi and the defender is reported to be undergoing a medical in London. The Liverpool ECHO\u2019s Paul Gorst first revealed that Gu\u00e9hi was undergoing a medical in London just hours before the transfer deadline, remaining in England\u2019s capital city to try and speed through the process.<\/p>\n
Confirmation of an agreement soon followed. The Athletic state a deal worth \u00a335 million ($47.3 million) has been struck to take Gu\u00e9hi to Anfield at the end of a busy transfer window for Liverpool. Talks with Gu\u00e9hi centred around his desire for a prominent role this season. The young defender is focused on earning a spot in England\u2019s squad for next summer\u2019s World Cup and was thought to be prepared to see out his Palace contract if he felt as though remaining with the Eagles was best for his international aspirations.<\/p>\n
Palace have moved to find a replacement and have entered the race for Brighton & Hove Albion\u2019s Igor Julio. At Anfield, Gu\u00e9hi is expected to compete with Ibrahima Konat\u00e9 for the starting spot alongside Virgil van Dijk. Konat\u00e9 is in the final 12 months of his contract and is understood to be a priority target for Real Madrid in the summer of 2026.<\/p>\n
Liverpool remain active in the market beyond the Gu\u00e9hi agreement. The Reds are already working towards a deal to sign Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak for a British record fee of \u00a3125 million, while Harvey Elliott is expected to depart for Aston Villa on a loan with obligation to buy.
