Liverpool almost punished a poor pass out from the back by David Raya when Virgil van Dijk intercepted a pass intended for Mart\u00edn Zubimendi. The Arsenal defence recovered to deny Alexis Mac Allister on that occasion.<\/p>\n
Arsenal\u2019s plan appeared to target Liverpool\u2019s fullbacks. Noni Madueke fared better in individual duels with Milos Kerkez, while Gabriel Martinelli found himself up against the makeshift Dominik Szoboszlai and had less impact. Both teams finished the first half without momentum.<\/p>\n
Neither manager made a change at the break. A 60th-minute effort from Hugo Ekitik\u00e9 was ruled out for offside in the build-up, a reprieve for Arsenal. The game\u2019s decisive moment came in the 83rd minute after Curtis Jones was fouled in a dangerous area. Szoboszlai stepped up and rifled a delivery up and over the wall that came off the inside of the left post and in.<\/p>\n
