Newcastle United have completed the signing of striker Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart in a deal that sets a new club record. The 23-year-old joins after netting 12 Bundesliga goals last season and impressing for Germany at the European Under-21 Championships.<\/p>\n
The transfer cost an initial \u00a365 million (\u20ac75.1 million, $87.7 million) plus \u00a34.3 million in add-ons, a figure the club has confirmed is a Magpies record. Woltemade had been the subject of several failed approaches from Bayern Munich before agreeing to move to Tyneside.<\/p>\n

The Magpies lost out to Chelsea in moves for Liam Delap and Jo\u00e3o Pedro, while Manchester United won the race for Benjamin \u0160e\u0161ko, prompting the club to target Woltemade as an alternative.<\/p>\n
With Woltemade now signed, Liverpool are expected to test Newcastle\u2019s position over Isak. Isak has publicly insisted he feels unable to return to St James\u2019 Park due to \u201cbroken promises \u201d over a new contract. A new bid of \u00a3130 million could arrive from Liverpool if Newcastle indicate a willingness to negotiate, although the Reds are not expected to meet the earlier \u00a3150 million price tag.<\/p>\n
