Tottenham Hotspur appear to have abandoned a move for Manchester City winger Savinho and have widened their search for an attacking recruit described as a “priority” ahead of transfer deadline day. Reports suggest a Savinho deal became unlikely when City signalled they would only consider letting the Brazilian leave if a move for Rodrygo from Real Madrid could be arranged. That chain of events did not materialise and ESPN say Spurs have been consigned to defeat over that pursuit.<\/p>\n
The club\u2019s recruitment focus has not narrowed, however. ESPN credit Tottenham with interest in five alternative targets: Maghnes Akliouche of Monaco, Lucas Paquet\u00e1 of West Ham United, Xavi Simons at RB Leipzig, Marseille outcast Adrien Rabiot and Leicester City playmaker Bilal El Khannouss. The list combines varying profiles and experience levels as Spurs seek an attacking option before the deadline.<\/p>\n
Bilal El Khannouss is the youngest of the quintet at 21 and has been linked with a move to Crystal Palace as a replacement for Eberechi Eze. Eze was another player Spurs pursued previously before Arsenal completed that deal. Akliouche is two years older than El Khannouss but does not carry the same Premier League experience. El Khannouss notably scored the winning goal in a 2\u20131 victory at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in January.<\/p>\n
Paquet\u00e1 brings the most Premier League familiarity, having spent three years in east London with West Ham United. There had also been a growing expectation that Xavi Simons would soon move to the Premier League; Chelsea reportedly targeted the Dutch midfielder but have been prioritising moves for Alejandro Garnacho and Ferm\u00edn L\u00f3pez.
