Chelsea are reported to be “close to an agreement” to sign Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho on a permanent basis. The club first showed interest in the player in January, and that pursuit has re-emerged this summer amid previous links to Napoli and the Saudi Pro League.<\/p>\n
According to The Guardian, discussions between Chelsea and Manchester United look set to reach a “compromise” over the asking price. Garnacho had been valued at \u00a350 million ($67.5 million), but the two clubs are said to be moving towards a fee in the region of \u00a335\u201340 million.<\/p>\n
The Argentina international is regarded by Chelsea as a priority wide forward ahead of their No. 10 target Xavi Simons. Simons is also wanted by Tottenham Hotspur following the long-term injury to James Maddison and Chelsea’s failure to sign Eberechi Eze.<\/p>\n
Chelsea are said to be “confident” a Garnacho deal can be concluded without first offloading the out-of-favour pair Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku. Meanwhile, The Times reports AC Milan are expected to “step up talks” to sign Nkunku.<\/p>\n
Nkunku has been primarily linked with a return to the Bundesliga this summer, with Bayern Munich and former club RB Leipzig mentioned among potential destinations. Chelsea are thought to have rebuffed loan interest in Nkunku, preferring to sell the Frenchman permanently.<\/p>\n
With the transfer deadline looming, and the window closing next Monday, moving players before the deadline would assist the club’s finances.
