Lamine Camara has moved on from the collapse of his Deadline Day transfer to Chelsea, though he has left open the possibility of another move in the future.<\/p>\n
The Monaco midfielder was on the verge of joining Chelsea after the French club were forced to revisit their plans when complications emerged in the medical of Folarin Balogun, who had been in line for a move to Everton. That sequence of events triggered a rapid push for Camara\u2019s sale, and the 22-year-old went as far as agreeing to a six-year contract. Monaco then abandoned the deal at the last minute once Balogun\u2019s move to Everton appeared to be back on track.<\/p>\n
As a result, neither player ended up leaving Stade Louis II. Chelsea came away empty-handed after missing out on both Fern\u00e1ndez and Camara, while Monaco kept hold of a player who has started the season strongly.<\/p>\n
Camara said he has accepted the setback and is now concentrating on the campaign ahead.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere was a possibility I could leave. It didn\u2019t go through at the last minute and that\u2019s part of football,” Camara said ahead of Monaco\u2019s clash with Strasbourg. \u201cI\u2019ve turned the page and am focusing on the season.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s part of a professional player\u2019s life. I managed to stay professional and not dwell on it too much,” he said. “Once it\u2019s happened there\u2019s no point in thinking about it again.\u201d<\/p>\n
He later added that a future transfer cannot be ruled out.<\/p>\n
\u201cI can help the team a lot,\u201d he said. \u201cFootball moves fast. Maybe other opportunities will come along. But for now, I\u2019m staying focused on the season with Monaco.\u201d<\/p>\n
Chelsea\u2019s need for midfield reinforcements has remained obvious since Fern\u00e1ndez\u2019s exit, with Mois\u00e9s Caicedo\u2019s fitness problems adding to the issue. Reece James and Malo Gusto have both been used in Alonso\u2019s midfield, without much success, and the club may revisit Camara or consider Roma midfielder Manu Kon\u00e9 in January.<\/p>\n
Liverpool are also said to be monitoring the situation, with Camara linked as a possible replacement for Alexis Mac Allister. For now, though, the midfielder\u2019s form remains strong.
