The fee underlines how highly the club value the Frenchman, even if he was not always the main figure for PSG when the pressure was at its highest. His record still gives the move its logic: two straight Ligue 1 campaigns with double-digit scoring and valuable late work off the bench as PSG went on their Champions League runs. Liverpool now own their joint-second most expensive signing, while PSG have a new record sale.<\/p>\n
There is also a wider reset taking place at Anfield. Liverpool are spending heavily to move from one era to the next, and Barcola arrives with the kind of profile that suggests he can become one of the defining players of that change.<\/p>\n
His signing may help Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak, who both arrived last summer as the club\u2019s two most expensive additions and have yet to fully settle.
