Manchester United\u2019s attempt to move Joshua Zirkzee on before the deadline has been complicated by his decision to turn down interest from Fiorentina, leaving the club still searching for a way out for the striker.<\/p>\n
Zirkzee sits near the top of United\u2019s list of players they want to sell. Since Michael Carrick arrived earlier this year, he has managed only 127 minutes, and he has been left unused for each of the club\u2019s opening two Premier League matches this season. Ahead of him in the pecking order are Matheus Cunha, Marcus Rashford, Benjamin \u0160e\u0161ko and Bryan Mbeumo.<\/p>\n
There is still some live interest in the 25-year-old, with Gianluca Di Marzio claiming talks with Juventus are ongoing, but the short time left in the window makes any departure uncertain. United have long viewed Zirkzee as a player likely to move on, and his standing had already slipped under Ruben Amorim before Carrick\u2019s arrival made the situation worse. A sale last summer was also considered possible.<\/p>\n
The club badly need sales to support further recruitment, yet that has been a problem. After significant spending in midfield, left back is believed to be the next priority, with Luke Shaw the only natural option in the squad. Raising funds through Zirkzee was one of the clearest routes available, but it has not gone smoothly. So far, United have not generated any money from senior exits. Casemiro, Tyrell Malacia and Jadon Sancho have left on free transfers, while Andr\u00e9 Onana and Altay Bay\u0131nd\u0131r have gone out on loan.<\/p>\n
Club officials expected more movement, and Zirkzee\u2019s departure was viewed as one of the simpler deals. Manuel Ugarte was available before his knee injury, and Marcus Rashford was not expected to remain after his loan with Barcelona ended.<\/p>\n
