Marcus Rashford has turned down any approach from Fenerbahçe, despite the Turkish club’s growing habit of collecting former Manchester United players.

Fenerbahçe’s summer business already included a notable old Old Trafford link when Mason Greenwood arrived for $45 million (€39 million at the time of the agreement). Romelu Lukaku followed from Napoli earlier this month, while former Manchester City centre-back Nathan Aké also joined last season’s runners-up over the summer. Rashford was another name considered as part of that ambitious recruitment drive, particularly after Champions League qualification, but The Times reports that route is now closed.

Other options are also said to be unlikely. Barcelona are reportedly unwilling to revisit last season’s loan move, while a short-term switch to Arsenal is described as highly doubtful. For now, Rashford’s immediate future appears set to remain at Old Trafford.

That outcome would have looked far from certain only months ago. Rashford was introduced for the second half of Manchester United’s 2-0 defeat to Hull City last weekend, marking his first competitive appearance for the club since December 2024. On Sunday afternoon, he is in line to make his first return to Old Trafford in 631 days.

It is a striking turnaround for a player who had been sidelined under Ruben Amorim, before leaving on two separate loan spells and then finding his way back to Manchester. Now, with Michael Carrick at the helm for the time being, Rashford could have a more prominent role this season. He was one of the few positives in a poor opening performance against Hull and may even be handed a start for Sunday’s visit from Ipswich Town.

The picture is less settled for Joshua Zirzkee. The same report states that United are in talks with Fiorentina over a loan deal with an obligation to buy. Fiorentina are said to be willing to pay as much as $5.8 million (£4.3 million) for the loan itself, while United want the agreement to include a clause that would require a further payment of around $29.1 million (£21.5 million) for a permanent transfer next summer.
