Alexander Isak has addressed the public dispute with Newcastle United after a season that brought personal and club success. He finished the campaign with 23 goals and earned a place in the 2025 PFA Team of the Year, a haul that helped secure a Champions League berth and saw Newcastle end their trophy drought by lifting the Carabao Cup at Wembley Stadium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a statement on social media Isak explained his decision to skip the PFA ceremony and set out his position on the ongoing conflict with the club. \u201cI’m proud to be recognised by my fellow professionals with a place in the PFA Premier League Team of the Season for 2024\/25,\u201d Isak wrote . \u201cFirst and foremost, I want to thank my teammates and everyone at Newcastle United who has supported me along the way. I’m not at the ceremony tonight. With everything going on, it didn’t feel right to be there.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He continued to outline why he has chosen to speak after a period of silence. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019ve kept quiet for a long time while others have spoken. That silence has allowed people to push their own version of events, even though they know it doesn\u2019t reflect what was really said and agreed behind closed doors.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Isak accused the club of failing to honour commitments. \u201cThe reality is that promises were made and the club has known my position for a long time. To now act as if these issues are only emerging is misleading.\u201d He concluded by setting out the consequence of those broken commitments. \u201cWhen promises are broken and trust is lost, the relationship can\u2019t continue. That\u2019s where things are for me right now \u2013 and why change is in the best interests of everyone, not just myself,\u201d Isak finished.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
