The 2026\/27 Premier League season is almost here, and the summer has already produced a wide spread of transfer business, preseason issues and unanswered questions. Some clubs have strengthened heavily, others have stood still, and a few face the new campaign with more uncertainty than they would have liked.<\/p>\n
Tottenham look to have addressed clear weaknesses after a troubled season that left them flirting with relegation. Roberto De Zerbi has been handed six arrivals, including free transfers Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi and Martin D\u00fabravka, while Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hecke have arrived for a combined $317 million. With no European football to manage, Spurs should expect a sharper response.<\/p>\n
At the top end, Arsenal appear to be setting the standard. Their 3-0 Community Shield win over Manchester City underlined the gap they have opened, and the additions of Bruno Guimar\u00e3es and Christos Tzolis only strengthen an already formidable squad. Their defence remains difficult to break down, their midfield relentless and their attack well stocked.<\/p>\n
Chelsea have also been central to the summer\u2019s activity, bringing in 11 players in total. The headline move is Morgan Rogers, whose club-record $157 million switch from Aston Villa stands out, while Danny Welbeck and Jordan Henderson add experience. Xabi Alonso has now taken over at Stamford Bridge and appears ready to reshape both formation and style.<\/p>\n
Sunderland, by contrast, have had a far quieter window. After last season\u2019s seventh-place finish, they have only added Thomas Meunier and have seen several peripheral players move on, which could matter with Europa League football ahead. Newcastle United have endured a difficult summer too, with Eddie Howe leaving, targets going elsewhere and Bruno Guimar\u00e3es, Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon all departing. Matthias Jaissle now faces a challenging rebuild.<\/p>\n
