Bruno Guimar\u00e3es has explained that his move to Arsenal was driven by a desire for a more stable environment and a better chance of winning major honours after nearly five years at Newcastle United.<\/p>\n
The midfielder described his time on Tyneside as a period that began in one of the club\u2019s most difficult spells, yet one in which he felt he played a major role in the rebuild. Newcastle finished 11th in the season after his arrival, then reached the Champions League twice and lifted the Carabao Cup during his four-and-a-half years there. His \u00a375 million switch to Arsenal earlier this season was an emotional one, with the Brazilian in tears when the transfer was confirmed.<\/p>\n

With him on the pitch, Newcastle averaged 1.8 Premier League points per game; without him, that figure fell to 0.8.<\/p>\n
Arsenal have already had a glimpse of what they have added. That confidence reflects the scale of Arsenal\u2019s recent rise under Mikel Arteta. That progress has changed perceptions well beyond north London, and Guimar\u00e3es is now among those convinced by the project.
