Arsenal have been informed by Gabriel Martinelli\u2019s camp that the winger has \u201cno interest\u201d in leaving for Galatasaray this summer, a development that closes off one potential move while keeping the club\u2019s wider summer strategy under pressure.<\/p>\n
Galatasaray\u2019s opening bid was reported last week and came in at $52 million (\u20ac45 million, \u00a338.4 million). That figure was said to be about $15 million below Arsenal\u2019s valuation. Even so, the bigger issue is Martinelli\u2019s own position. According to The Athletic, he is \u201cnot pushing to leave\u201d and does not want to join the Turkish champions.<\/p>\n
There has been a belief that, if he were to move, he would favour a club in one of Europe\u2019s top five leagues: England, Spain, Italy, Germany or France. T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s S\u00fcper Lig is outside that bracket. Talk of Barcelona did not progress once the Spanish champions signed Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi instead.<\/p>\n
Arsenal\u2019s ability to push on in the market is still tied to the numbers before the Sept. 1 deadline. Sales of Karl Hein, Jakub Kiwior, Leandro Trossard and Christian N\u00f8rgaard have raised a combined $53.6 million (\u00a339.6 million) before add-ons, but that may not be enough if further spending is planned.<\/p>\n
Martinelli\u2019s role also remains under scrutiny. He would be a useful squad option, but there are genuine doubts about whether he is the level required to start for a side aiming to build a dynasty in England and eventually win the Champions League. Last season, he scored 11 goals in all competitions, but only one came in the Premier League, and he started just 11 times after losing his place to Trossard.<\/p>\n
His Champions League output was better, with six goals, although none came in the knockout rounds. He did not start the semifinal second leg or the final.
