Arsenal are understood to have raised their pursuit of Bruno Guimaraes with a more substantial proposal for the Newcastle United midfielder.<\/p>\n
BBC Sport reports that the defending Premier League champions are preparing an official bid worth $93.2 million (\u00a370 million) in an effort to take the Brazilian to north London. The move would add another high-level option to an already crowded midfield, but the challenge remains significant.<\/p>\n
Fabrizio Romano says Arsenal have already settled personal terms with Guimaraes, leaving Newcastle as the decisive obstacle. The 28-year-old has long been regarded as a key figure for the club, and there had previously been no expectation that he would be available.<\/p>\n
Even so, Newcastle are expected to turn down the improved offer. Earlier reports suggested the club want a fee closer to $124 million (\u00a393.1 million), a figure that would place the midfielder among the more expensive departures in the market.<\/p>\n
Arsenal\u2019s approach this summer has shown a clear reluctance to stretch beyond their limits. They withdrew from the race for Morgan Rogers and allowed Chelsea to complete a record-breaking $157 million (\u00a3117 million) move for the former Aston Villa player. The club have also stepped away from their interest in Juli\u00e1n Alvarez, whose valuation has continued to rise at Atl\u00e9tico Madrid.<\/p>\n
Despite that caution, Romano reports Arsenal remain convinced a deal can still be reached for Guimaraes without paying above what they consider sensible. Even if a third bid is required, there is still confidence that Newcastle could be persuaded by a fee only slightly higher than $93.2 million (\u00a370 million).<\/p>\n
