Arsenal\u2019s summer rebuild appears to be gathering pace after the club\u2019s long-awaited Premier League title win in May, with Christos Tzolis now firmly in the frame. The Greek international is being lined up as a replacement for Leandro Trossard, who has moved on to Turkish club Be\u015fikta\u015f after returning from the World Cup.<\/p>\n
There is still no formal announcement on the deal, but the transfer has been acknowledged by Club Brugge manager Ivan Leko. Speaking after Brugge\u2019s pre-season friendly against Heerenveen, he made clear how strongly he views the winger\u2019s departure.<\/p>\n
\u201c[I am] very happy for him,\u201d Leko told DAZN (via The Standard ) after Brugge\u2019s preseason friendly against Heerenveen on Friday. \u201cI am very sad for me on one side, because we are losing a top player.\u201d<\/p>\n
Tzolis has already shown he can produce at a high level. He made 14 Premier League appearances for Norwich City in 2021-22, and since then he has built an impressive record at Brugge, registering 88 goal contributions in 108 matches. His form late last season helped Brugge secure a 20th league title.<\/p>\n
Leko was equally upbeat about how Tzolis might fit in at Arsenal, adding: \u201cI am convinced that he will have his minutes, that he will show some highest level in the Premier League and Champions League at Arsenal, and he will show that he is a top player and absolutely deserves to go and be there,”<\/p>\n
Arsenal\u2019s business, however, was not limited to Tzolis. The club were also heavily linked with Aston Villa\u2019s Morgan Rogers, with Fabrizio Romano suggesting the Gunners were \u201call in\u201d on the England international. That pursuit has now been overtaken by Chelsea\u2019s \u00a3117 million ($157.28 million) offer, and Rogers is expected to sign a six-year contract with the Blues.<\/p>\n
