Brentford will run late assessments on Caoimhin Kelleher and Kevin Schade as they prepare for the opening Premier League fixture against Nottingham Forest. Head coach Keith Andrews confirmed both players have returned to training but said their availability will be decided in the days before the match.<\/p>\n
Kelleher joined Brentford in a \u00a318million deal from Liverpool in June and missed the club\u2019s 2-2 draw with Borussia Monchengladbach after picking up a knock in training. The Ireland international is also a popular Fantasy Premier League pick, owned by 17.5% of players.<\/p>\n
\u201cCaoimhin and Kevin Schade are back on the grass,\u201d said Andrews. \u201cWhether they will be absolutely ready we\u2019ll see over the next day and a half, then we\u2019ll make that decision. \u201cOverall, we\u2019re in a pretty good place on front.\u201d<\/p>\n
Andrews offered a less optimistic update on Gustavo Nunes, who suffered a hamstring injury during Brentford\u2019s pre-season friendly with Gil Vicente in Portugal. The Brazilian, who signed from Gremio for a fee in excess of \u00a310m last summer, struggled with injuries in his first year in west London and now looks set for another lengthy period on the sidelines.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere are a couple of ones that definitely won’t be available. Gustavo , Vitaly is still making his way back, Paris Maghoma.\u201d Janelt, who underwent surgery on his heel at the end of last season, and Maghoma will also be unavailable.<\/p>\n
Striker Yoane Wissa will not be part of Brentford\u2019s squad amid speculation around his future. Wissa has been the subject of interest from Newcastle, and Andrews confirmed the 28-year-old was not in the right headspace to travel with the team. He missed Brentford\u2019s final two pre-season friendlies against QPR and Borussia Monchengladbach, having left the club\u2019s pre-season training camp in Portugal.<\/p>\n
Brentford remain active in the transfer market for attacking reinforcements and are exploring moves for Dango Ouattara and Arnaud Kalimuendo before the window closes. Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola, asked about Ouattara, said: \u201cDango is going to train with us today, he\u2019s here,\u201d Iraola said. \u201cBut it\u2019s true I don\u2019t know what\u2019s going to happen.
