Harry Maguire has signalled that Manchester United\u2019s playing group would be receptive to Marcus Rashford returning to the squad should a permanent move or loan fail to materialise this summer. The subject is live as transfer planning continues for a window squeezed by the World Cup.<\/p>\n
Michael Carrick, who replaced Amorim in January, hasn\u2019t closed the door to Rashford being reintegrated at Old Trafford, and Maguire made clear the squad\u2019s preference while stressing the need for the right resolution.<\/p>\n

United identify a left winger among their recruitment priorities after that position has not been properly filled since Rashford last played for the club 18 months ago. Matheus Cunha provided an admirable second-half contribution, but he is a more natural fit as a No. 10 or No. 9.<\/p>\n
With central midfield a pressing issue, United may require up to three signings to address last season\u2019s lack of depth and to replace Casemiro. Left back and a second-choice goalkeeper are also on the agenda. Taking just one position off the table, even only for a year, could ease summer planning.<\/p>\n
Rashford remains under contract until 2028 and would return to a very different environment to the one he left under a cloud. His salary burden is significant and he is entitled to a contractual raise in line with the club qualifying for the Champions League. The cost of alternatives is substantial: signing Yan Diomande could easily set United back nine figures in transfer fee alone.<\/p>\n
Rashford managed 28 goals and assists for Barcelona last season to bounce back from a dreadful couple of years and is a proven 30-goal player at his absolute best. The club expects him to report for preseason duty once his World Cup participation and a mandatory three-week break after the tournament is over.<\/p>\n
