Arsenal have seen an opening bid for Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimar\u00e3es turned down as the Magpies make clear they do not want to sell. The Daily Mail reported Arsenal held talks with Guimar\u00e3es\u2019s representatives, and Fabrizio Romano said a “formal approach” had been made.<\/p>\n
Sources indicate Arsenal discussed a fee in the region of \u00a355 million ($73 million). Newcastle quickly signalled that they have no interest in selling the Brazil international, who is currently at the World Cup in North America, for what they regard as a low offer.<\/p>\n
The decision comes as Newcastle prepare for a summer of transition. The club have already lost Anthony Gordon to Barcelona. Tonali has been strongly linked with moves to Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur. In the Premier League last term he led Newcastle for goals, assists, chances created and accurate long passes per 90.
