Mikel Arteta has been named the 2025\u201326 Premier League Manager of the Season, the first Arsenal coach to claim the award in more than two decades. Arsenal finished top of the table, pipping Manchester City and ending the campaign seven points clear of City and 25 points ahead of former champions Liverpool.<\/p>\n
Arteta is only the second Spaniard to win the prize, following Pep Guardiola. He finished ahead of two compatriots in the running for the 2025\u201326 award, including Guardiola in his final season at the Etihad Stadium. Across the campaign Arsenal recorded 26 wins and just five defeats, produced the meanest defense in the division and registered the second-most prolific attack.<\/p>\n
The Manager of the Season prize was not presented during the Premier League\u2019s inaugural season but has been awarded at the end of every subsequent campaign. Arteta becomes the 14th different coach to receive the honour.<\/p>\n
Alex Ferguson was the first recipient in 1993\u201394 and went on to dominate the award over subsequent decades. Kenny Dalglish followed with the 1994\u201395 prize after guiding Blackburn Rovers to the title. Ars\u00e8ne Wenger collected the award during each of Arsenal\u2019s title-winning seasons under his management and remains the only Frenchman to have won it.<\/p>\n
George Burley was an unexpected victor after leading promoted Ipswich Town to European qualification. Harry Redknapp, Alan Pardew and Tony Pulis are among the British managers who won the prize on a single occasion. Jos\u00e9 Mourinho took back-to-back awards in the mid-2000s after transforming Chelsea into Premier League contenders.<\/p>\n
Following Ferguson\u2019s departure, Claudio Ranieri and Antonio Conte also won the award, the former securing recognition after Leicester City\u2019s 5000\u20131 title triumph. The arrival of Pep Guardiola and J\u00fcrgen Klopp saw seven consecutive awards between 2017\u201318 and 2023\u201324 claimed by those two managers. Arne Slot became only Liverpool\u2019s second winner after Klopp following a debut campaign in which the Reds finished as champions.<\/p>\n
