Brighton & Hove Albion have set an asking price of \u20ac120 million (\u00a3104 million, $139.4 million) for Carlos Baleba as Manchester United assess their midfield needs. The Seagulls are asking for \u20ac120 million, per ESPN. The Red Devils have not made direct contact with Brighton, and Baleba is reportedly willing to remain at the AMEX Stadium this season before giving serious thought to a move next summer.<\/p>\n
Lille, Baleba\u2019s former club, are also thought to hold a 20% sell-on clause, a factor that would increase the cost to any buyer. That clause is cited as a possible explanation for Brighton\u2019s valuation.<\/p>\n
United\u2019s pursuit of Benjamin \u0160e\u0161ko has reduced the likelihood of pursuing Baleba. The Slovenian forward is set to undergo a medical with the Red Devils and will reportedly cost Man Utd an initial \u20ac76.5 million (\u00a366.4 million, $89.2 million) this summer as Ruben Amorim adds a new striker to his attack alongside the summer signings of Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha.<\/p>\n
Midfield remains a potential area for reinforcement. Heading into the coming campaign, Amorim is reported to have Casemiro, Kobbie Mainoo, Manuel Ugarte and Bruno Fernandes available in the midfield pivot. Of the more defensively minded options, no one outside of club captain Fernandes has established themselves as an outright starter. Even then, Fernandes has performed better as one of the two attacking midfielders in the 3-4-2-1 system.<\/p>\n
Manchester United retain some internal options. The club also have youngster Toby Collyer as an option, and they allowed Christian Eriksen to leave after his contract expired at the end of last season.
