Andr\u00e9 Onana is working towards being fit for the start of the Premier League season as he recovers from a hamstring injury. The Cameroon goalkeeper discussed his recovery progress and outlook in a conversation with Tim Howard on NBC Sports and Sky Sports ahead of the Summer Series finale against Everton in Atlanta. “I feel good, I feel great. It\u2019s been a few difficult weeks but yeah, hopefully, I will be back for the start of the season. I\u2019m enjoying the training with my guys and we are looking forward [to the start of the season],” Onana stated.<\/p>\n
Since arriving at Manchester United, Onana, 29, has faced scrutiny and speculation about his future, amplified by reported interest in other goalkeepers including Gianluigi Donnarumma and Emiliano Mart\u00ednez, as well as Royal Antwerp\u2019s Senne Lammens. Despite the uncertainty, Onana remains the favored starter at present as United did not secure a single clean sheet in their four preseason games in the United States, conceding four goals in total.<\/p>\n
The defence\u2019s prospects could improve with the return of Lisandro Martinez and a full preseason under new tactics after conceding 54 Premier League goals last season. Onana himself ranked joint seventh in clean sheets last campaign, level with Liverpool\u2019s Alisson Becker.<\/p>\n
