Discussions over a potential signing are understood to be ongoing but Chelsea\u2019s final decision may be shaped by the uncertainty surrounding Enzo Fern\u00e1ndez. There are, however, signs Barco could follow teammate Emmanuel Emegha to Stamford Bridge this summer if the club proceeds.<\/p>\n
Barco first attracted Chelsea interest while coming through at Boca Juniors. At one stage the Blues were serious admirers, but he opted to join Brighton & Hove Albion instead. His spell in the Premier League at Brighton yielded just seven appearances before he departed on loan.<\/p>\n
Now 21, Barco has been redeployed at Strasbourg, moving from left back into central midfield after the club signed him in 2025. He played a prominent role under current Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior at Strasbourg, showing composure on the ball, aggression defensively and the ability to cover left back when required.<\/p>\n
There have been claims of Bayern Munich interest amid his strong form this season. Strasbourg are likely to be selective with suitors, but Chelsea\u2019s relationship with their sister side could simplify negotiations compared with other clubs.<\/p>\n
